Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm specializing in labor and employment law is seeking an experienced Employment Attorney to join as Special Counsel. This mostly remote position offers a unique opportunity to engage in a diverse range of employment litigation while collaborating with a team of professionals committed to providing high-quality legal services. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in employment law with at least seven years of experience, and be adept at managing both cases and teams in a virtual office setting.
Duties:
- Handle employment law matters, including administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and litigation for clients with Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI).
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, ensuring high standards of case strategy, work product, and overall legal execution.
- Conduct depositions, and represent clients at hearings, conferences, and trials.
- Manage single-plaintiff litigation, with potential exposure to class actions and PAGA cases.
- Collaborate with senior partners and a team of paralegals to support clients’ needs.
- Provide consistent, high-quality legal advice and representation, while maintaining autonomy and remote work flexibility.
Requirements:
- Over 7 years of experience in employment law and litigation.
- Strong experience in handling administrative charges, demand letters, and employment-related disputes.
- Ability to work independently and manage cases with minimal supervision in a remote environment.
- Active membership in good standing with a state bar.
- Ability to develop case strategies, draft legal documents, and manage legal teams effectively.
Education:
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school.
Certifications:
- Admission to the Bar in at least one state (additional states a plus, especially California).
Skills:
- Expertise in employment law matters, particularly litigation and administrative processes.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to advocate effectively in a virtual environment.
- Proficiency with remote collaboration tools and the ability to work in a distributed setting.
- Leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to manage both legal work and team dynamics.
Job Location:
- Memphis, TN (Mostly remote with occasional local travel).
