Monzo’s mission is to make banking work for everyone – and to do that, we need to build exceptional reward programmes that attract, retain, engage, and motivate the best talent, all while staying true to our values and culture.

Reporting directly to the VP of Reward, you’ll have the opportunity to make a significant impact quickly, leading compensation activities globally during an exciting period of change. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned comp leader with experience managing teams in fast-paced environments. Based in the UK, Monzo’s headquarters, you’ll play a crucial role in setting the direction, strategy, and policy for our reward programmes across our diverse and dynamic teams.

You’ll play a key role by:

  • Leading the annual pay review process
  • Collaborating with our Hiring team to craft competitive offers for senior roles
  • Partnering with senior leaders to roll out new compensation initiatives
  • Evolving our approach to market benchmarking
  • Introducing a new job architecture framework
  • Supporting Monzo’s European expansion by implementing country-specific compensation frameworks

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • You’re an experienced compensation leader who’s adaptable, thinks critically, and thrives in a flexible, collaborative environment
  • You’ve led compensation activity in a large organisation
  • You bring deep expertise in all things compensation
  • You’re highly adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • You’re confident managing stakeholders at all levels (exec, board, and leadership teams)

Not ticking every box? That’s totally okay! Studies show that women and people of colour might hesitate to apply unless they meet every single requirement. At Monzo, we’re dedicated to creating a diverse and welcoming team. If you’re passionate about this role and keen to learn and grow with us, we encourage you to apply – even if you don’t have everything that’s listed just yet. Drop us your application, we’d love to hear from you!

What’s in it for you

We’re flexible on the base salary, depending on experience + share options.

This role can be based in our London office, but we’re open to distributed working within the UK (with ad hoc meetings in London).

We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, and at times that suit you and your team.

We will set you up to work from home; all employees are given Macbooks and for fully remote workers, we will provide extra support for your work-from-home setup.

+ Plus lots more! Read our full list of benefits.

The application journey has 4 key steps

  • Intro call with the recruiting team
  • First stage intro call with the hiring manager
  • Second stage interview with two peers
  • Final stage interview with the hiring manager
