Locum Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer – London – £60-65 per hour – Hybrid Working

Position: Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer

Organisation: London-based local authority

Duration: 3 months with possible extensions thereafter

Working Pattern: Full time hours

Working Arrangement: Hybrid working with office attendance once per week

Hourly Rate: £60-65 per hour (Umbrella)

Venn Group’s specialist public sector legal team are recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority based in London , who are in need of a skilled Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to assist the team owing to a large increase in workload and the recent retirement of a staff member.

The role of Locum Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer is offered for an initial 3 month period with potential extensions thereafter based on business requirements. This position will expose you to a wide range of contracts and procurement work within local government and expand your legal repertoire extensively.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a qualified Barrister, Solicitor or Legal Executive (CILEx) with a proven track record of successfully managing a complex Contract and Procurement caseload within Local Government or Public Sector Organisation.

Duties shall include:

  • Procurement and Contract Management: Deliver strategic legal guidance on drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts, ensuring compliance with procurement laws and safeguarding the organization’s interests.
  • Service Concession Agreements: Advise on structuring and implementing concession agreements, allowing third parties to operate services or facilities, ensuring all legal aspects are effectively managed.
  • Grant Management: Handle all legal matters related to grant agreements, from application processes to disbursement, ensuring compliance with funding regulations and offering guidance through the legal intricacies.
  • Corporate Governance: Provide comprehensive support on corporate matters, including mergers, acquisitions, compliance, and restructuring, ensuring smooth legal processes within the organisation.
  • Pension Scheme Advisory: Offer expert legal advice on pension regulations and compliance, ensuring the proper management and administration of pension schemes in line with statutory requirements.
  • Collaborative Inter-Authority Agreements: Facilitate legal agreements between local authorities for shared services and projects, ensuring clarity and compliance across joint initiatives.
  • Outsourcing and Insourcing Transactions: Support organisations with the legal aspects of outsourcing services or bringing operations back in-house, focusing on compliance and efficient contract oversight.
