Head of Product Design
Salary: £70-80,000 + benefits
Location: West Midlands
You will have experience managing and leading people within the Product Design and NPI launch environment. As the ‘go-to’ person for other departments, you will be able to protect the design intent throughout the execution phase of the project to successful market launch.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage & lead the design & NPI team in the creation of innovative and market-leading products from concept to market launch.
- Develop and manage design workload and deliverables.
- Collaborate with marketing, engineering, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective, and aligned with market needs.
- Oversee the development of design prototypes and coordinate testing to validate design concepts.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company quality guidelines.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor products, and technological advancements to inform design decisions.
- Mentor and develop a team of designers and NPI projects, fostering a creative and collaborative work environment.
- Present design concepts and progress updates to senior management, board members, and stakeholders.
Personal Specification
- HND/ Degree level qualification, ideally in Product Design Engineering, Mechanical or Industrial Design Engineering.
- Proven people management experience in a product design & development and project launch environment.
- Experience in consumer goods, household appliances, fenestration, or similar high-volume FMCG product development.
- Experience in plastic manufacturing processes, product assembly & tooling.
- Ability to motivate your team to identify, solve, implement, and verify technical solutions autonomously.
- Creative and positive attitude with an inquisitive nature.
