The Head of Publishing leads our Procedural Publishing Unit, and is responsible for the strategic development of the team and its services as well as their day-to-day operational delivery.
You will develop a resilient publishing operating model that is responsive to the challenges and opportunities of new technologies and ways of working; you will make sure user needs and excellent customer service are at the heart of the team’s ethos; and you will champion the services and skills of the team across the organisation.
Some of the responsibilities for this role include:
- Leading and inspiring a team of around 30 publishing professionals, ensuring they develop and thrive.
- Taking operational responsibility for the no-fail production of publications that are essential for each day’s sitting.
- Shaping the future of our service, working with users and colleagues to improve our ways of working.
- Encourage and enable innovation, particularly in relation to the potential for digital to deliver benefits for staff and users.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Experience of building and motivating high-performing teams performing a business-critical function in a high-profile organisation.
- Deep understanding of current and emerging publishing technologies and processes, and a successful track record of managing production, editorial and technical teams.
- The ability to develop and deliver long-term strategic plans informed by new technologies and customer insight.
