Head of Trading Risk (Web3)

We are looking for a proactive Head of Trading Risk to oversee a wide range of trading risks, including market, credit, liquidity, operations, technology, new product, compliance, and wallet risk. The role involves refining risk frameworks, conducting risk assessments, implementing measurement techniques, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing incident responses. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical skills, deep regulatory knowledge, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of Hong Kong regulations (SFC) and a keen interest or experience in the crypto or Web3 space. The role focuses on ensuring the implementation of robust risk management strategies and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Enhance the firm’s risk management framework for digital asset trading, custody, and settlement.
• Contribute to the development of the trading risk management framework, creating risk policies and procedures for both new and existing trading strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Perform continuous risk assessments to monitor market volatility, liquidity, counterparty exposure, and compliance with regulations.
• Implement risk measurement methods, set risk appetite thresholds, and design monitoring tools.
• Work collaboratively with various business units to refine risk controls and support the development of new products.
• Build and maintain relationships with regulators, industry groups, and auditors to ensure compliance.
• Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging risks to adapt risk strategies accordingly.

Requirements:

• A degree in a quantitative field; professional qualifications such as CPA, CFA, or FRM are a plus.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in a quantitative trading firm, investment bank, or hedge fund, with roles in areas such as Product Control, Market Risk Management, or Risk Strategy.
• Hands-on experience in developing risk management processes and monitoring tools.
• Strong understanding of financial products, with knowledge of crypto products being an advantage.
• Proven experience in risk management or trading risk roles.
• Strong leadership abilities with a collaborative approach to working across teams.
