Responsibilities
- Responsible for one of the team’s race cars at the event.
- Assure effective communication with the driver, engineers, and mechanics.
- Oversee vehicle set-up, run plan optimization, and direct interaction with the driver.
- Organize and perform all pre-event preparation work.
- Maintain the vehicle set-up database and determine the starting set-up.
- Prepare a weekend timetable, test item lists, and job lists.
- Work effectively with controls, performance, tyre and strategy engineers, as well as factory-based engineers.
- Ensure legality of the car at race events.
- Use simulation tools before and during the event to maximize performance.
- Perform post-event data analysis and comprehensive post-event reporting.
- Create analysis tools and techniques to understand and develop car performance.
- Develop, document, and apply best practices for legal, safe, and reliable car operation.
- Organize and attend relevant rig tests providing engineering support.
- Support and assist the team during the DEV sessions with performance analysis and writing reports.
Profile
- Master’s degree in mechanical or automotive-related engineering discipline.
- Previous race engineering experience in FE/F1/WEC – minimum of 3 years.
- Excellent knowledge of vehicle dynamics, tires, and control systems.
- Proficient with data analysis; previous experience with Wintax is an advantage.
- Knowledge of analysis and simulation software; previous experience with Matlab is appreciated.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good understanding of lap time simulation tools and Driver in the Loop environments.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of French is an advantage.
