Job Description:

Wood is currently recruiting for Senior/Principal Electrical Power System Engineers on a hybrid contract basis for upcoming projects.

The Engineer will be responsible for running power system simulations of complex systems, taking ownership of power system models and studies, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions for the assigned project.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical input into major equipment sizing and produce Power Generation & Distribution Engineering drawings/documents (equipment lists, key line diagrams, load schedules, cable schedules) while ensuring compliance with design specifications and client’s and international standards.
  • Utilize advanced experience using the Power System modelling ETAP package, running load flows, short-circuit, transient stability, static/dynamic motor starting, harmonic analysis, arc flash, and protection coordination studies, and issue corresponding power system study reports.
  • Review and understand the project Scope of Work (SoW) and perform activities as per schedule.
  • Provide Protection Engineering solutions for the assigned project.
  • Recognize and communicate opportunities in the design process.
  • Identify scope changes and report to the Lead and concerned Project Engineer.
  • Identify any concerns during the design process and report to the Lead Electrical Engineer.
  • Ensure deliverables are produced to meet the acceptable Quality Level.
  • Follow Project Schedule and control the Project Cost.
  • Liaise and coordinate with clients and sub-contractors/vendors for power system studies scope.
  • Perform work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Understand and follow the Company’s Business Management System (comprising Business/Quality Procedures, Guidelines, Policies, etc.).
  • Understand and follow the Company’s and Client’s HSE policies.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Formal training in advanced ETAP Power System Modelling and Analysis is an advantage.
  • Extensive experience working in a multi-disciplinary Engineering office in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • Good experience with Oil & Gas facilities design is mandatory.
  • Able to prioritize workload to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Positive working attitude, able to demonstrate self-motivation and a proactive approach.
