Join us in this role where you’ll work as SCADA/OT engineer at our UK West Coast Hub which forms part of the Region Europe Generation Portfolio. Working in the UK West, you’ll provide first line response and technical solutions to SCADA/OT events across UK West hub to drive continuous improvement & increase reliability of generation assets. Reporting directly to the Head of Asset Reliability you will have responsibility in developing and enhancing our SCADA/OT engineering capabilities.

You’ll be part of UK West Hub where you, together with your colleagues, will represent and be part of the Asset reliability Engineering Team for the UK West Asset Portfolio and will work closely and collaborate with engineering managers and their teams as well as engaging with key stakeholders in site operation, Global Support & Functional Teams.

You’ll play an important role in:

  1. end to end decision making on technical issues escalating where required to internal and external stakeholders
  2. being the point of contact for SCADA/OT events and monitoring of our systems ensuring system health, availability and compliance including WTG and SCS systems
  3. ensuring compliance of critical energy production infrastructure with the IT/OT security standard
  4. ensuring that the correct cyber security level is implemented on the SCADA systems to fulfil country-specific and global company requirements
  5. effectively manage & execute SCADA/OT systems and improvements upgrades through implementation of software/hardware to all our assets
  6. aligning important interfaces with internal and external stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted control and monitoring of electrical components.

To succeed in the role, you:

  1. hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Control Systems, Automation or similar)
  2. will be available to visit all our sites for planned and unplanned events at short notice.
  3. have strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to establish, maintain, and develop effective relationships
  4. ensure technical changes are managed to a high standard protecting the integrity, safety and compliance of the assets utilising and improving where required existing processes
  5. previous experience of working within electrical substations would be advantageous – particularly authorisation under electrical safety rules
  6. have good knowledge in SCADA protocols: IEC 61850, IEC60870-5-101/103/104, Modbus & TCP/IP, OPC, SNMP, SNTP, Profinet, DLMS – Devices: Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Energy Meters, Protection relays, Bay controllers, SCADA Gateways, Protocol Converters, GPS time servers. – Industrial Networks, Ethernet switches, firewalls, routers, PABX, IP Phones, redundancy RSTP, PRP, Networks troubleshooting – Windows Server, server administration, VMware Esxi, back up strategies, hardening, server hardware maintenance.
