Purpose of the Role
Join the Design Studio Engineering team as the Technical Manager, where you’ll provide technical leadership and in-depth technical knowledge to guide and support the Design team, whilst also delivering business objectives and technical product development, on time and within budget. The role will work cross-functionally with Design, Bentley functions, VW Group and outside suppliers to deliver world-class Designs. Reporting into the Functional Lead, Design Engineering & Design Validation your main responsibilities include;
- Leading projects within a studio environment to achieve project milestones and gateways
- Supporting the Design team with technical knowledge and understanding, developing schemes in CAD to solve problems and suggest ideas
- Working with internal and external CAD resources, steering them proactively to pre-empt and react to new challenges and designs
- Manage project content for Studio Engineering to deliver the Design vision within scope and budget
About the Team:
This is an extraordinary opportunity to be part of a small, but highly skilled function within Bentley Design, responsible for the Design feasibility from initial concept to the final design. We work throughout the Design process to deliver the Designers vision, collaborating with different functions within Design, departments across the company and external suppliers to overcome feasibility challenges, meet legal and functional hardpoints and introduce innovations to deliver the project. About you – Skills and Experience
The successful applicant should be an experienced Studio Engineer or Concept Engineer with proven ability to manage teams and projects in a dynamic and creative environment, ideally with automotive experience.
- Experience in automotive/product Design environment
- The candidate should have a blend of creativity, an eye for aesthetic quality and an understanding of technical limitations
- Experience and extensive use of Catia V5 is required, knowledge of related programmes such as ALIAS and VRED would also be beneficial
- Experience managing projects and working cross-functionally
- Experienced in the generation of feasible concept ideas, in CAD, and innovations
- A Product Design or Design Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant experience is required
