Hays Accountancy and Finance are recruiting and working in partnership with a large public sector organisation for the appointment of a Forensic Deputy Principal Accountant offering a competitive market leading salary and public benefits. The Department of Justice, Compensation Services Northern Ireland is recruiting a Forensic Deputy Principal Accountant. This team is responsible for the administration of the Northern Ireland Criminal Injuries Compensation schemes, to provide compensation to victims of violent crime.
Your new role
We require the services of a forensic accountant to review a proposed Periodic Payment Order in respect of the proposed future care costs, in the claim of an applicant who has sustained a serious injury and will suffer pecuniary loss and/or may require life-long care. The proposed Order will be prepared by the applicant’s forensic accountant. It will need to be reviewed by a forensic accountant acting on behalf of Compensation Services, who will be required to provide advice to Compensation Services on the proposed terms of the agreement, attend a consultation with Compensation Services Senior Counsel and, if necessary, agree a Scott Schedule outlining any areas of dispute between the parties. We will require the advice and representation to be provided in a timely manner as settlement of the matter must take place within a tight timeframe.
What you’ll need to succeed
– Qualified forensic accountant with specific experience in personal injury cases, in which Periodic Payment Orders have been agreed as part of the award.
– This experience should include the drawing up and administration of Periodic Payment Orders and/or the review of, and agreement of such orders.
– Have the required level of experience in forensic accounting to review a proposed Periodic Payment Order in respect of the proposed future care costs, in the claim of an applicant who has sustained a serious injury and will suffer pecuniary loss and/or may require life-long care.
– This role may also require experience and knowledge of agreeing a Scott Schedule outlining any areas of dispute between the relevant parties.
