The Job Profile
Simon & Schuster UK’s, Children’s production team is looking for a talented and motivated Junior Production Controller to join the Children’s Fiction, Production team.

Reporting into the Production Manager, you will help the team deliver an exceptional purchasing and product management service in support of Simon & Simon UK business objectives.

The Job Role
The Junior Production Controller will take on responsibility for production of titles ranging from across front list/back list and special sales whilst supporting the Children’s Fiction list. You will ensure that all book lists are completed and produced to a high standard and delivered on time and within budget. You will participate in team projects and initiatives, collaborating with various departments, especially work in collaboration with all departments across the business in particular the Children’s Design and Editorial teams and be a productive and positive voice in all conversations around book production for our children’s mono books.

The Candidate Profile
You will have some experience of working in a general book production department (preferably on Children’s books), and knowledge and understanding of children’s mono books, printing requirements and some colour management.

Excellent attention to detail and a good understanding of pre-press, typesetting, and mono production processes is a must. You will have a good commercial sense and ability to manage targets for production costs and schedules.

You will have a keen enthusiasm for creating beautiful quality predominantly mono books within the children’s book genres. With a willingness to learn more about pre-press and production processes, you will want to expand on your knowledge and experience when the opportunities arise. You will be highly organised and with support from your manager, be able to manage multiple deadlines, prioritising and communicating effectively.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to take the next step in production and further their knowledge, whilst being an important part of a small team working on an award winning list.
