Job Title: Depot Manager.
Reports To: Logistics Manager.
Based At: Stockton
Working Hours: Nightshift 21:00 – 07:30.
Salary: £40,000 Per Annum and up to 10% performance related bonus.
Position Overview:
To manage the overall performance, workplace organisation, annual budget and functionality of the depot facility. Leading a team of drivers, stores staff, team leaders and assistant managers who you will work closely with.

With an eye for detail and a flexible approach, you must demonstrate a drive to attain and maintain excellent standards, ensuring teams provide outstanding service and all deliveries are completed safely, successfully, and on time.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the depot to high standards in Health & Safety, Learning & Development, Customer Services, Financial Control, Facilities Management, Despatch, Human Resources Operations, and Transport.
- Engage with colleagues to maintain high morale, motivate staff, and identify improvements.
- Organise and oversee employee induction and ongoing training.
- Maintain operational standards using 5S disciplines.
- Manage depot Profit and Loss, controlling costs within budget.
- Communicate processes, changes, and developments clearly to staff.
- Drive performance using KPIs and system enhancements aligned with business strategy.
Key Areas:
Health & Safety
- Promote a proactive safety culture with regular audits and observations.
- Report all incidents following guidelines.
- Ensure manual handling training is completed and signed off.
- Assess risks and enforce safe working systems.
Depot Team Performance
- Review performance metrics such as customer complaints, driver scores, delivery issues, etc.
- Provide training and conduct regular staff feedback sessions.
- Manage staff holidays and scheduling.
Depot Processes
- Ensure stock accuracy, proper storage, and waste minimization.
- Maintain good housekeeping and cold chain standards.
Vehicle Fleet Management
- Coordinate vehicle repairs and maintenance.
- Manage accident reports and vehicle hygiene.
- Keep fuel logs accurate.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with H&S and food safety standards.
- Manage documentation in line with GDPR.
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
Background in dairy, food, or drinks distribution preferred; management experience in night operations; familiarity with food safety standards like BRC; IOSH certification; proficiency in MS Office; strong leadership, communication, decision-making, and organizational skills; valid driving license.
