Yacht Lawyer (Senior Associate/Director)

The Opportunity

This top 100 city law firm is recruiting into their Yachts team. The successful candidate will ideally have some experience working within a yacht or private aviation team, or experience of other broader, non-contentious marine or private client work or asset finance.

The Team

The Yacht team, which is 28 members strong and based across London and Monaco, is widely acknowledged as a market leader for legal services to the superyacht industry. Their clients include owners, financiers, brokers, project managers, and designers who all trust them to deliver a first-class, customer-focused service.

The Role

1. Superyacht and aviation financing, acting for both banks and borrowers, in relation to term sheets, loan documentation, conditions precedent and subsequent, the mechanics of drawdown and impact on the appropriate new build / sale and purchase documentation.
2. Advising clients on yacht and private aviation contracts (new construction and S&P).
3. Corporate requirements (ownership structuring, board resolutions, PoAs).
4. Business development – interacting with private and asset finance banks and finance brokers, and additionally, when necessary, potential clients, referrers, and other intermediaries (brokers, designers, managers, shipyards), preparing marketing literature, client briefings, pitches, etc.

Essential Criteria

1. Qualified solicitor.
2. Some experience working within a yacht or private aviation team, or experience of other broader, non-contentious marine or asset finance.
3. Transactional, drafting and negotiating experience.
4. Knowledge of commercial, financing, and banking principles.
5. Ability/willingness to work as part of a team and independently.
6. An interest and aptitude for developing new business.
