Job Description:
Senior Electrical Design Engineer required. Our client is a building services and environmental design consultancy specialising in the design and integration of mechanical, electrical and public health systems for buildings. They are looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer due to the growth of the business.
Successful candidates will lead electrical designs across multiple projects and will act as the primary point of contact for the external design team on certain projects.
Senior Electrical Design Engineer Position Overview
- Lead the electrical engineering design on multiple projects. To liaise with the external design team and take responsibility for ensuring the coordination of the building services design.
- Carry out electrical load calculations, software calculation for equipment and low voltage infrastructure sizing, delegating tasks to junior engineers where appropriate.
- Carry out renewable energy assessments understanding sustainability targets and utility network requirements.
- Produce design packages including sketches, drawings, stage reports, specifications, and technical schedules, delegating tasks to junior engineers where appropriate.
- Liaise with equipment manufacturers and utility suppliers to review technical equipment selections, make utility applications, and ensure they meet the requirements of the design.
- Understand the project brief and client aspirations and ensure these are translated to the design.
- Ensure the design complies with relevant building regulations, planning policy, British standards, CIBSE guidelines etc.
- Visit site and liaise as necessary with the contractors to ensure the design intent is followed, and to complete site inspection reports.
- Delegate tasks to junior team members, share knowledge and offer guidance.
- Seek and record evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) in accordance with CIBSE or IET guidelines.
- Be aware of health and safety issues in construction and understand the designer’s obligations under Construction Design and Management Regulations.
Senior Electrical Design Engineer Position Requirements
- Minimum 4 years’ employment as an electrical engineer in building services.
- Good degree in either Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering or other relevant engineering degree. CIBSE or IET membership desirable.
- Competent in using 2D AutoCAD and modelling/BIM software such as REVIT.
- Proficiency level on electrical software such as Amtech, Eplan, Dialux, PVSyst.
