UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL – CONSULTANT GASTROENTEROLOGIST VACANCY
We have been assigned by an NHS University Hospital based in the East to help recommend them a Consultant Gastroenterologist for a substantive or 12 month NHS Fixed Term position just 50min train ride from Central London.
Our client is looking to appoint an expert Endoscopist well versed with ERCP, oesophageal stenting and dilation procedures. The successful candidate will work in the Gastroenterology Department but will not be expected to take part in the general medical rota. Further opportunities exist for the successful candidate to develop a sub-specialty such as hepatology. Our client performs near 300 ERCP procedures per year and has a well developed Gastro service including:
- Ward based Gastroenterology
- Endoscopy Unit with 3 procedure rooms (with plans for a fourth)
- Therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP, oesophageal, colonic stenting and EMR
- Endoscopic ultrasound (in development)
- Capsule endoscopy with dedicated capsule nurse
- Out of hours GI bleeding service (365 days per year) with two on call nurses
- 2 IBD nurse specialists with nurse led IBD clinics and anti TNF infusion facilities
- 1 endoscopy nurse
- 2 colorectal cancer nurse specialists and 1 upper GI nurse specialist
- 5 colorectal surgeons
- 2 specialist GI radiologists
- Colorectal and Upper GI MDT’s as well as benign GI radiology MDT
- Nutrition sister and specialist liver/hepatitis clinic and outpatient venesection & paracentesis
