Job Introduction

The BBC is seeking a Head of Product – GTM – iPlayer to lead the go-to-market (GTM) strategy, planning, and execution for BBC iPlayer. As a key leader within the Product Management Group, this role will shape exceptional GTM initiatives that drive measurable business impact.

iPlayer is the UK’s fastest growing streaming service. You will work collaboratively with product, content, editorial, marketing, technology, internal/external communications, distribution, and commercial teams to ensure our go-to-market strategy is innovative, scalable, and brings value to all segments of the BBC audience.

You will bring an understanding of streaming service product experiences, helping and challenging our product teams to ensure our enterprise solutions meet the needs of the UK populace and keep pace with a fast-evolving industry.

The location of the role is flexible and could be either London or Salford (Flexible/Hybrid).

Main Responsibilities

Strategic GTM Planning

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define the GTM strategy for product launches and ongoing growth.
  • Align product positioning, messaging, and market strategies with audience and internal user needs.
  • Identify key market segments, personas, and use cases to prioritise go-to-market efforts.

Product Launch Leadership

  • Own the end-to-end product launch process for a brand, ensuring all teams are aligned and equipped for successful execution.
  • Develop detailed, brand-focused launch plans, timelines, and success metrics.
  • Act as the central product point of contact for cross-functional coordination during go-to-market milestones.

Market and Competitive Analysis

  • Conduct ongoing research into market trends, customer insights, and competitive dynamics.
  • Work with other leaders in the product management team to ensure that key stakeholder feedback influences the product roadmap.

Product Marketing and Support

  • Partner with design and marketing to create collateral, training, and tools that effectively communicate product value propositions.
  • Conduct workshops, webinars, and training sessions to ensure internal users understand the benefits of product capabilities.

Performance Monitoring and Optimisation

  • Define success metrics for GTM initiatives and continuously track performance.
  • Gather feedback from users and stakeholders to identify friction points in the GTM process.
  • Ensure post-launch reviews are conducted to learn from successes and failures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the connective tissue between product, marketing, content, and customer services teams.
  • Influence product roadmaps by sharing insights from user interactions and market research.

Customer-Centric Advocacy

  • Ensure user insights are at the heart of every GTM initiative.
  • Collaborate with customer services to identify reference users and success stories.

Evangelism and Thought Leadership

  • Act as a spokesperson for the product brand, representing the voice of the customer.
  • Partner with colleagues to contribute to strategy, including blog posts and industry events.

Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience

You will bring significant experience in product management, marketing, or a GTM-specific role, ideally in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment. You will also demonstrate:

  • Video on demand (VOD) / stream service product experience.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across functions.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in defining and tracking success metrics.

  • Familiarity with tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, and product analytics tools.
