Mechanical Design Engineer
Our consumer electronics industry client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer.
The position will involve designing quality products using injection moulded,
extruded, cast and machined parts as well as optics, electronics and mechanisms.
The position will involve working on projects through all phases of the New Product
Introduction (NPI) process.

Requirements

  1. Candidates will have a degree in engineering.
  2. The ideal candidate will have a fundamental, solid understanding of mechanical engineering.
  3. For purposes of project supervision and efficient integration into our products, a strong candidate will also have an appreciation of electronics, electrical assemblies, PCB layout and power requirements.
  4. Experience in the design of precision mechanical products involving intricate mechanical assemblies and mechanisms incorporating plastic mouldings, die castings and machined components. Suitable previous experience may include the design of consumer type products such as mobile phones and similar telecoms equipment, printers, copiers, white goods, medical products, etc.
  5. Experience of tolerance studies, numerical design calculations, FEA and BOM costs is required.
  6. Extensive experience of 3D CAD systems is essential.
  7. Knowledge of relevant analysis tools is also highly desirable.

Please note that this is a full-time office-based role.
