The bpi division sits within the Flexibles Division of Berry Global Inc., a US listed company with an annual turnover of around $13bn and over 40,000 employees.
The bpi division has manufacturing sites across the UK, Germany, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Poland, and Romania.
An opportunity exists for an Electrical Engineer to join our existing Maintenance Department. The position will be working 12-hour shifts, 07:00 – 19:00, working 84 hours per fortnight, made up of seven shifts per fortnight including alternate weekend work. You will work as part of a team reporting to the Engineering Lead.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will be fully qualified with a minimum SVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or apprenticeship served with at least 4 years’ experience, and possess a proven track record of production engineering.
- We are looking for the successful candidate to be flexible, highly motivated and driven, with the ability to prioritise their workload, and with experience working in a demanding manufacturing environment.
- Good timekeeping, health & safety conscious, and great communication skills are essential, in addition to the ability to be a pro-active team member.
- The use of Lean and Six Sigma tools is desired.
- Experience using a CMMS system would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
Within this role, you will undertake planned preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, testing, repairs, and new installation work covering a wide range of equipment, services, systems, and buildings associated with the running of a large manufacturing site.
- Follow and encourage stringent EHS and standard company practices.
- Daily preventative maintenance activities and routine safety inspections.
- Fault finding and diagnostics in reactive breakdown or planned situations.
- Planned preventative maintenance on a variety of production machinery to include extruders and site services.
- Ensure all breakdowns are dealt with promptly and efficiently whilst ensuring that all PPM schedules are maintained.
- Perform maintenance tasks as part of planned maintenance or as directed by the Engineering Lead.
- Respond promptly to any unplanned maintenance issues or repairs to ensure minimum downtime.
- Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes.
- Maintain accurate and clear written records, maintaining documentation to a high standard.
- In addition, it is expected that the job holder will undertake any reasonable tasks within the scope of the post as requested by their Manager.
