How to contribute to our vision

  1. Development of Wind Turbine and/or Wind Farms Regulator electrical simulation models in Electromagnetic Transient models with specific features (snapshot, encryption, multi-run).
  2. Develop converter control algorithms for grid features.
  3. Integrate DLLs or automatically generated code.
  4. Test model performance and analysis results. Provide inputs to other departments.
  5. Assess model performance against WTG capabilities.
  6. Modeling issues analysis.
  7. Documentation of activities: design report, validation reports, user manuals.
  8. Develop automation tools so that they can run simulations and create reports automatically.

Technical Knowledge:

Power System engineering:

  1. Transmission and distribution networks.
  2. Grid elements: (power transformers, power cables, reactive power compensation devices, protection and distribution of MV grids…)
  3. Power electronics
  4. Electrical machines
  5. Harmonics analysis

Converter Control engineering:

  1. Power electronic converter design and control
  2. Control theory and application
  3. Power electronic drives, vector current control, Pulse Width Modulation
  4. Grid Forming control systems
  5. Real-time embedded control and implementation

Power System studies:

  1. Transient stability (mainly LVRT and OVRT)
  2. Electromagnetic transients simulation (EMT)
  3. Dynamic studies (response to grid events or changes in power plant set points)
  4. Simulation and modeling of control and electrical systems.
  5. Small Signal Stability analysis of power systems

SW skills:

  1. PSCAD: Very important to have knowledge about the Fortran compilers, compatibility issues and encryption techniques.
  2. Creation and integration of compiled code (DLLs) into simulation tools allowing advanced features: multirun, multi-instance and snapshot features.
  3. Fortran and C programming
  4. MATLAB and Simulink
  5. RSCAD (software package) – Real Time Digital Simulator

What you need to make a difference

Simulation & Modeling:

  1. Wind turbines, desirable experience with type-3 and type-4 technologies for transient stability studies.
  2. Wind power plants; or at least renewable energy power plants in which multiple components need to be controlled at the same time to match the references or needs at the point of common coupling. Renewable systems: mainly wind turbines, but also PV and BESS.
  3. Algorithms to control power plants, mainly wind turbines, power converters and/or renewable energy power plants. Experience with hybrid power plants will be a plus.

Other skills:

  1. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical topics clearly and concisely.
  2. Self-motivated with the ability to take the initiative in finding innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.
  3. It is important that you are a dedicated team player, and you thrive in a multi-cultural environment – just as you possess fluency in spoken and written English.
