Waste Investigations Support & Enforcement (WISE) is a leading provider working with Local Authorities to combat issues like fly-tipping, littering, and dog fouling. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and extensive industry experience, WISE is dedicated to maintaining clean and safe boroughs.

Role Overview:

As an Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer, you’ll patrol the borough, engage with the community, educate on environmental issues, and enforce legislation by issuing Fixed Penalty Notices when necessary.

Key Responsibilities for the Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer:

  1. Patrolling: Follow an agreed deployment strategy to patrol the borough.
  2. Investigating: Address complaints from the community and report findings to your Team Manager.
  3. Educating: Raise awareness about environmental crime and the importance of community participation in keeping the borough clean.
  4. Enforcing: Interact with offenders and issue Fixed Penalty Notices for relevant offences.
  5. Learning: Stay well-versed in legislation through our bespoke Enviro Crime Induction Course.
  6. Documenting: Maintain thorough notebook entries and witness statements for each issuance.

Ideal Candidate for Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer:

  1. Effective Communicator: Comfortable engaging with the public, even in challenging situations.
  2. Team Player: Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  3. Physically Fit: Capable of prolonged foot patrols in all weather conditions.
  4. Detail-Oriented: Clear and concise in writing reports.
  5. Proactive: Able to use initiative in carrying out duties.
  6. Trained: Willing to complete our Enviro Crime Induction Course and demonstrate competence in independent patrols.

Additional Information for the Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer:

  1. Schedule: 5-day work pattern, Monday to Sunday, between 8am-6pm.
  2. Benefits: Company pension, 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays).

Requirements for the Environmental Support & Enforcement Officer role:

  1. Driving Licence: Preferred
  2. Screening: All successful candidates will undergo vetting. Cooperation during the screening process is crucial.
