Job Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a MDT Co-ordinator/MDT Tracker to work within the Multi-Disciplinary Team providing high quality care for patients with cancer to implement and track patients through their cancer pathway.
The Cancer Services Directorate provides comprehensive pathway coordination and tracking for patients with known and suspected cancer. We are responsible for submissions to Cancer Waiting times, The Cancer Registry, Peer Review, and National cancer audits and Datasets. Confidence in operating IT systems is essential.
The successful candidate will also provide cover support to the Cancer MDT Coordinators during busy periods, including preparing MDT lists and attending pre-MDT and post-MDT meetings.
Working hour requirements for this will need flexibility but normal working hours are 09.00 to 17.00 Mon-Friday.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will manage and track referrals for patients with suspected and confirmed cancer to ensure that local and national cancer pathways and targets are met. Working as part of a team of MDT Coordinators, they will provide a first-class service for patients in a fast-paced environment. They will be a core and valued administrative member of the multi-disciplinary team and communicate effectively with colleagues from various staff groups and hospitals.
As the role is multi-functional and works within tight deadlines, the ideal candidate will work on their own initiative and be systematic and organised. The role involves using several electronic systems and minute-taking, so a high standard of IT skills and excellent typing ability is essential.

- Minimum of one year’s experience in an NHS setting involving patient contact and/or scheduling of patient appointments.
- Understanding of general medical terminology.
- Previous involvement or understanding of MDTs.
