Job Introduction: BBC Media Operations is at the heart of delivering incredible content across all our platforms for all audiences. Comprising around nine hundred people, it manages the craft and production operations for the BBC’s news, radio, and some sport services across London, Salford, Birmingham with teams across the main UK sites. Our team captures, edits, and produces output 24/7 for TV, radio, and digital platforms. We are experts in our field, with exceptional technical, operational, and production creativity at our core.

The Location team is responsible for resourcing and supporting outside broadcasts for Radio and News, and for Production Services who supply and support kit to self-shooters. Our team deliver some of the BBCs highest profile events ranging from Music (Glastonbury, the Proms), to Sport (Euros, Olympics) to news events such as coverage of the Party Conferences, elections as well as breaking news.

We are looking for an Operations Executive who can lead with flair and motivate our teams to achieve their best. You should bring innovative ideas to the table and foster a creative working environment. While great leadership is important, being a good team player is also essential to ensure we work collaboratively across the business, aligning our thinking with organisational and departmental strategy.

Main Responsibilities:

• Serve as a highly visible and trusted leader, focusing on effective management and enhancing staff engagement.
• Oversee the department’s operational staff, managing performance, training, and development.
• Collaborate with production partners to ensure the delivery of high-quality content.
• Align with divisional and departmental objectives to formulate viable and strategic business plans.
• Build and maintain relationships with recognized trade unions to ensure a cooperative and constructive industrial relations climate.
• Effectively manage and control the team budget.
• Stay abreast of industry developments and new technology. Share knowledge and experiences with colleagues, and proactively seek out, recommend, and adopt more effective techniques, ways of working, and best practices to drive efficiencies and deliver value for money.
