Reporting to and working very closely with the Executive Assistant, the postholder will contribute fully to the development and delivery of the income generation strategy and will be responsible for maximising income from fundraising activities e.g. individual donors, Friends of Hear for Norfolk and community fundraising.

The postholder will be responsible for drafting the Charity’s marketing materials and for marketing the Hearing Loss Awareness Training and awareness raising events.

Principal duties:

  1. To assist with the development of the income generation strategy for the organisation.

  2. To research, plan and deliver a programme of fundraising activities in accordance with the approved aforementioned income generation strategy.

  3. To monitor performance against the fundraising targets and take remedial action if necessary to ensure the achievement of those targets.

  4. To regularly research and review the giving criteria and patterns of existing and potential supporters (individual donors and Friends of Hear for Norfolk), with the view of identifying best prospects and maximise opportunities for generating income for Hear for Norfolk.

  5. To be responsible for the administration of Friends of Hear for Norfolk scheme and the stewardship of individual donors.

  6. To be responsible for organising community-based fundraising activities and events (i.e., Friends of Hear for Norfolk bi-annual events, supermarket collections, coffee mornings, etc.), as and when appropriate, and for monitoring and evaluation of their effectiveness.

  7. Responsible for the marketing of the Hearing Loss Awareness Training to various organisations and individuals and take ownership of relevant bookings.

  8. To adhere to the following principles whilst delivering the duties identified in points 1, 2, & 6 above:

  • Identifying all the potential opportunities for fundraising, Friends and fundraising events, including location, catering, and equipment.

  • Producing detailed proposals & programme for the event/s

  • Agreeing with the Chief Executive Officer an appropriate budget for each event and ensuring that this is effectively managed.

  • Making sure that all legal responsibilities and health and safety considerations are adhered to.

  • Ensuring that a suitable location is secured for events and that all the key speakers, special guests, trustees, and relevant team members are available to attend.

  • Producing and disseminating the marketing and publicity materials associated with the events.

  • Keeping everyone involved with the event informed and up to date with all the latest developments.

  • Undertaking an evaluation of each event to establish what has worked well and what could be done better.

  • To recruit, develop and manage a team of volunteer-supporters who will assist Hear for Norfolk with fundraising events.

  1. To prepare, review and disseminate marketing materials (leaflets, posters etc.). To assist and work with colleagues in the production and mailing out of publications, the quarterly Hear for Norfolk News, the annual Impact Report and other corporate documentation and awareness raising events.

  2. To support the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Assistant and the wider team with organising profile-raising events, including AGM/APM and Deaf Awareness Festival.

  3. To be available to assist in other areas of the Charity’s work as needs arise.
