We are recruiting nurses with Emergency department experience who want to further their career in a fast paced, lively and renowned department. Main duties of the job:
- Carry out planned care for a group of patients without supervision
- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care
- Assist and advise staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care
- Maintain accurate clinical observations of the patient and act accordingly
Management Responsibilities:
- Plan, organise and deploy staff according to ability and workload in order to meet patient needs
- Manage effective flows of patients within Emergency Services to meet NHS targets
- Communicate effectively at all times and maintain a harmonious working environment
- Demonstrate an awareness of the economical use of resources and contribute to the overall control of the ward or departmental budget
Teaching and health education:
- Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested
- Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants, students and junior staff, helping them to achieve their learning outcomes
- Act as a role model and mentor to nursing assistants, pre-registration students nurses undertaking supervised practice and return to nursing programmes, and junior nurse

Person specification:
Education- Essential criteria: Level 1 RGN, Relevant level 2 post registration A&E course or equivalent experience
- Desirable criteria: Other specialist course or evidence of post registration training / equivalent experience
- Essential criteria: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Experience in teaching junior staff and students, Basic IT skills, ILS certificate, Competency in venepuncture and cannulation
- Desirable criteria: Current ALS certificate, ATLS / ATNC / or equivalent certificate, PILS / APLS / EPLS certificate
- Essential criteria: Demonstrable significant experience in A&E as a registered nurse
- Desirable criteria: Experience of taking charge of the department and managing patient flow, Experience of working in a minor injuries unit, Previous critical care experience
