Description

Diversity matters
We are building a brand that represents the people of the world. What you do that counts, and we are always looking to expand perspectives and voices to shape our future.

We see you, we celebrate you, we want you!

Who we are
You might know us as the inventors of the bath bomb, but there’s more to this great-smelling, partly employee-owned, family-run company than pioneering cosmetics. We believe our business should put more back into the world than it takes and demonstrate that capitalism can be a force for good.

The Living Wage Foundation’s statement, ‘a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay,’ is something we are proud to commit to in the UK. As an accredited Living Wage employer, we put our people first and fight cruel practices like animal testing, promote regeneration, and show that what’s inside counts – whether an ingredient in a product or the minerals in a smartphone.

The role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be part of a fast-paced team who are responsible for the machinery and equipment for all Lush UK Manufacturing departments (all Poole-based sites).

A Maintenance engineer is a crucial part of the Repairs and Maintenance Team in supporting all UK manufacturing departments. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about making a difference, enjoys a challenge, is keen to self-develop and maintain excellent operational/H&S standards in a busy company environment.

The person must have relevant qualifications in mechanical/electrical engineering along with 3+ years of engineering experience within an industrial/manufacturing environment. A maintenance engineer ensures daily operations run effectively through planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance/inspections and servicing, along with responding to reactive breakdowns.

General working hours would be between 7 am-5 pm, Monday to Friday; we’re flexible so happy to discuss working patterns.

Please note: We may close this vacancy early if we receive an overwhelming response or our business requirements change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out emergency breakdowns, unplanned problems and repairs alongside other engineers/unaccompanied.
  • Managing stock and supplies, including ordering with suppliers.
  • Help carry out planned preventative maintenance works on all machinery and equipment alongside other engineers/unaccompanied. Ensure you are working on health and safety legislation/regulations. Support health and safety in writing SOPs/Machinery Checks.
  • Help with related projects within the business, providing technical information and hands-on support.
  • Assisting with leads/management in presenting projects/equipment at the director level.
  • Installation of new equipment.
  • Recruit and work alongside specialist trades/professionals.
  • Give clear and concise feedback – positive and constructive to external contractors.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 3+ years of engineering experience within an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience working on steam plant/boiler setup is ideal.
  • Holds both formal mechanical and electrical qualifications.
  • Ability to self-manage.
  • Good understanding and experience in using tools.
  • A flexible approach to work.
  • Experience in supervising/managing teams (ideal, but not necessary).
  • The ability to time, work under pressure and keep to deadlines.
  • Good understanding of technology and computer skills.
  • Ability to be reactive and cope with change.
  • Embraces the ethics of the company and can apply this to their day-to-day work.
  • Able to recognise areas of improvement for self-development and proactively pursue them (training courses).
  • Great written and verbal communication skills.

Benefits

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • *6 months’ full pay for parental leave (primary caregiver).
  • *Enhanced paternity leave.
  • Bonus scheme.
  • Day off for weekday birthdays.
  • Holiday purchase scheme.
  • 50% discount on Lush products and spa treatments.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Discounted rail and bus season tickets.
  • Employee assistance programme.
  • *Financial childcare support on return to work.
  • We’re 10% Employee Owned – all colleagues play a role in protecting our ethics, our independence, contributing ideas for the future and share in the rewards of success when the company is doing well.
