The Admissions team is responsible for all admissions to UCL’s Undergraduate, graduate taught, research, teacher training and affiliate programmes. It handles approximately 170,000 applications per cycle. The Admissions function is critical in ensuring that UCL secures the desired number of students to meet UCL’s aspirations in terms of securing and maintaining a well-qualified, balanced student body and associated tuition fee income.

About the role

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Applicant Enquiries Assistant on a time-limited basis in our centralised admissions team, which manages applications to programmes across UCL. The main focus of the role will be on handling enquiries regarding applications for undergraduate (UG), graduate (PG), teacher training (ITE) and affiliate study (in person, by telephone, web chat, email and letter). The postholder will be working with UCL’s enquiries system to handle enquiries within agreed service levels and will be responsible for taking ownership of individual enquiries, ensuring resolution either through response to the enquirer or through triage to members of the admissions team. The postholder will be required to assist with staffing the Admissions Hub on UCL’s main campus on a weekly rota basis, taking enquiries from potential applicants on an in-person basis.

The postholder will also be required to assist in the processing of applications for UG, PG, ITE and affiliate study including: creating database applicant records; managing on-line applications and the applicant portal; qualifications checking and assessment; updating database records; verification of qualifications; and general administrative duties such as filing, printing, scanning, sorting post and archiving.

This role will be fixed-term until 06 October 2025 in the first instance.

About you

The successful applicant will have good interpersonal skills, with a tactful and diplomatic approach to communication (both verbal and written). They will have excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise work and think clearly and work calmly to meet service standards under pressure. The nature of the role requires an individual who is able to both work successfully in a team and complete high volume tasks to consistently high standards of speed and accuracy.
