Job Title: Senior Operations Manager, Cross-List Publishing

Salary: £43,800 – £58,500

Location: Cambridge – University Printing House (Hybrid)

Contract: Fixed term/Secondment (24 months), Full-time

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead production strategies for a diverse range of publishing projects. This is a senior role within our Production Management team, providing oversight of global teams and ensuring seamless project delivery. About the role

As a Senior Operations Manager, Cross-List Publishing, you will play a pivotal role in leading and implementing production strategies across multiple publishing projects in English. You will be responsible for ensuring successful project delivery, managing a global team, and driving process improvements. Additionally, you will own the Production Management tech stack, ensuring its efficient use across teams to align with business needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of publishing projects, ensuring production, quality, and productivity standards are met.
  • Manage a global team, including Delivery Managers, Project Managers, and an offshore Project Coordination team.
  • Oversee resource planning, budget allocation, and forecasting for upcoming projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align production with technology and content strategies.
  • Own the implementation and development of production technology tools, ensuring efficiency and clear communication.
  • Influence stakeholders across multiple departments to drive consensus and ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Identify risks and implement effective solutions to enhance project efficiency and quality.
  • Oversee reporting on project progress, KPIs, and financials, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

About you

You are a strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team. You thrive in a fast-paced, global environment and have experience managing complex production processes for both print and digital publishing.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven project management experience (MSP, APMP, PRINCE2, or Agile certification desirable).
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience managing global teams across cultures and time zones.
  • Expertise in digital and print production processes, with knowledge of tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud and MS Project.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks, develop solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Budget management experience, including resource allocation and financial reporting.
