Senior HV Cable Design Engineer (Freelance)

Contract Outside IR35

Fully remote (Must reside in the UK)

Responsibilities:

The technical review of projects and DNO and national grid connection offers
The design and conceptual design of both the grid connection and private network infrastructure from LV to 132kV
Work as a Cable Engineer on multi-disciplinary projects
Deliver concept design, FEED, feasibility, and detailed design projects and bid for clients
Ensure projects are delivered to the client\’s satisfaction in accordance with the scope, budget, and timescales requirements
Produce or review the HV cable aspects of various projects including onshore cable projects, offshore export cable, and interconnectors
Deliver bids and tenders with tight deadlines as part of a tender team and produce HV cable design packages
Attending site visits, FAT and SAT, and commissioning as needed
Project management for both grid connection and private network infrastructure projects ranging from LV to 132kV

Essential criteria:

Bachelor\’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering is required.
AutoCAD experience
5 years or more of contracting/consulting experience
Valid driver\’s licence
Previous Project Management Experience
HV/EHV experience
Working with IDNOs, DNOs, or ICPs
Working to BSEN, IEC, IEEE, and CENELEC standards
A valid driver\’s licence and a flexible work schedule
Previous experience designing, manufacturing, and testing HV Cables for use in HVAC and HVDC projects both onshore and offshore.
Knowledge of HV Cable system design and ratings (CYMCAP, ELEK e.t.c)
Knowledge of IEC cable standards, CIGRE technical policies, technical specifications, and supporting documentation.
Exposure to third-party cable activities such as testing, installation, and transport
