40 million people wear spectacles in the UK alone, but the optical industry hasn’t changed enough in three centuries. Products are tired, standards are mediocre, and the experience is dull. We’re going to change that, and build the world’s most customer-centric spectacles company. We are proud to be a Living Wage Employer and to be B Corp Certified.

The Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled and technically minded Production Engineer to lead a team that builds a best-in-class production facility in central London, the only one of its kind. We’re seeking a Production Engineer to lead and optimize our frame production as we scale into a world-class eyewear brand. This hands-on role involves overseeing technical processes, ensuring top-quality and efficiency, and driving continuous improvement. With ambitious growth targets of 500–700% over five years, we need a problem-solver with strong engineering expertise to scale output and implement best-in-class manufacturing practices.

Requirements

  • People Management: Lead, train, and develop a team of four, fostering continuous improvement and optimising productivity through equipment and process enhancements.
  • Engineering-Led Production Management: Oversee the entire manufacturing process for Bespoke, Bespoke+ orders, and repair services. Optimise CNC machining, laser cutting, and other advanced fabrication techniques. Identify and procure cutting-edge machinery and tooling and source high-quality materials.
  • Prototyping & R&D: Create technical drawings, CNC programming, and prototypes for new frame designs and concepts. Develop and implement automation strategies for improved production processes. Increase production output while maintaining craftsmanship and quality.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Resolve technical challenges and optimise manufacturing for efficiency and precision, working closely with other departments across the business. Implement robust quality control and conduct root cause analysis to uphold high product standards. Track performance metrics and drive data-driven decisions for continuous production improvements.

Our Values

  • Pioneers: Leads by example with courage and positivity, inspiring their team to think innovatively, take risks, and continuously grow both personally and professionally.
  • Proud: Leads with dedication to excellence, inspiring and supporting their team to uphold high standards, pay attention to detail, and go the extra mile to achieve the best outcomes.
  • For all: Humble and empathetic, they foster inclusivity, encourage teamwork through shared challenges, communicate openly, and celebrate individual and team strengths.

Benefits

  • Complimentary spectacles, eye examinations and generous discounts
  • Option to buy and sell holiday
  • Paid time away for the important moments in life
  • Annual season ticket loan
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Life assurance
  • Subscription to Champion Health
  • Unlimited You Can Now Business Skills Training
