A leading global data centre provider is seeking an electrical design engineer to lead the end-to-end technical aspects of energy infrastructure and multi-fuel generation plants across EMEA. This role is critical in overseeing power infrastructure design and delivery, ensuring alignment with industry standards, utility/AHJ, and customer requirements. The successful candidate will manage key stakeholders, including utilities, energy suppliers, contractors, and consultants, to ensure on-time, in-budget power delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Electrical System Design & Innovation: Develop electrical system topologies and utilize financial modeling tools to implement optimal and innovative solutions, including HV substations, cables, multi-fuel generation, modular nuclear, and renewable energy sources (solar, battery, microgrids, wind, etc.).
- Substation, MFGP, SMR, Renewables & Cable Expertise: Oversee and review power infrastructure specifications, technical evaluations, and engineering studies.
- Value Engineering: Conduct ROI/IRR analyses, value engineering, and system recommendations to balance cost-effectiveness with operational sustainability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (CSA, MEP, IT, EPMS, procurement) and external stakeholders (utilities, contractors, engineering consultants) to streamline project execution.
- Customer Support: Assist sales teams with customer tours, RFP responses, and bespoke power solutions while supporting emergency power needs when required.
- Project Reporting: Provide weekly updates on substation progress, risks, blockers, and priorities. Conduct feasibility analysis and ensure strong design management capabilities.
- Grid and Regulatory Expertise: Maintain in-depth knowledge of grid operations, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Project & Design Management: Oversee project plans, design management, delivery, commissioning, and compliance at all voltage levels (LV to EHV).
- Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices, lessons learned, and value engineering initiatives to enhance power management across EMEA.
Required Skills & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Major) or equivalent; Chartered Engineer (CEng or equivalent) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 7 years in HV electrical design and delivery (Primary or Secondary Design Engineer), with experience in HV/EHV systems preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Expertise in EU substation design, IEC/BS standards, utility regulations, and working with EPCs/OEMs. UK National Grid experience and TP141 accreditation preferred.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, BIM360, and Navisworks.
- Leadership & Communication: Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead external teams and build relationships.
- Project & Design Management: Ability to manage multiple projects across different time zones and collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple projects, and adjusting to changing business needs.
- Travel: National and international travel required (20-25%), with potential increases based on project demands.
