NDT/Welding Inspector
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £37,071 per annum
Working hours: Monday to Thursday, 6:00am – 2:30pm; Friday, 6:00am – 1:00pm (39-hour week).
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled NDT/Welding Inspector to join our busy Steelwork Inspection Department. This exciting opportunity is based near Doncaster and offers a dynamic work environment, with occasional travel to suppliers.
Position Overview:
As an NDT/Welding Inspector, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and integrity of steel structures, with a focus on visual inspections, dimensional checks, and non-destructive testing (NDT). This role is essential in maintaining the highest standards of steelwork fabrication throughout production and supporting customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct visual examinations of fabrications and steel surfaces.
- Perform dimensional inspection and verification.
- Carry out NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) as required after training.
- Identify and record non-conforming products, ensuring resolutions are addressed.
- Generate and maintain inspection documentation in line with quality standards.
- Ensure that the inspection test plan is followed from start to finish.
- Carry out first-off to final release inspections.
- Make inspection visits to sub-suppliers as required.
- Assist with customer visits and support customer satisfaction.
- Calibrate and verify inspection equipment.
- Maintain welding parameters and welding stores.
Key Requirements:
Essential:
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experienced in using measuring equipment such as tape measures, calipers, etc.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to plan and manage your own workload.
- Prior experience with quality control of structural fabrications throughout production.
- Familiar with ISO 9001 standards.
- Full UK driving license.
- Good mathematical understanding.
- Strong communicator, both written and verbal.
Desirable:
- PCN/CSWIP Visual qualification.
- PCN/CSWIP Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) qualification.
- Icorr or equivalent painting qualification.
- Experience with painted structures.
Working Conditions:
- This role is based in an industrial setting, with possible exposure to loud noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
- Physical stamina is required due to manual labor and extended periods of standing.
- Overtime available.
- 24 days of annual leave.
