Position Overview:
IB Abel is searching for an Electrical Engineering Intern! As an intern, you will be responsible for performing general electrical engineering and drafting tasks, as well as performing field observations and interacting with customers. Join a dedicated team ready to provide mentorship, support, and a broad range of opportunities for your professional development.
Location & Travel:
- Office assignment: York Office or Macungie Office with flexibility to work from home when appropriate.
- Occasional travel as necessary to other offices or yard locations, trainings, offsite meetings, and customer facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in design of electrical power distribution, lighting, and related systems for commercial, industrial, and substation projects.
- Assist in performing electrical engineering calculations and studies.
- Coordinate with other engineering, architectural, and construction disciplines.
- Coordinate with electric utility companies.
- Perform field observations and survey activities.
- Perform Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) work.
- Interact with customers to investigate and provide recommendations for power quality issues.
- Copy, scan, and assemble print jobs.
- Assist in job takeoff.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Enrolled in BSEE or BSEET program.
- Possess technical writing ability.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office products.
Other:
- Valid driver’s license required to operate company or personal vehicle for company business.
- Must be able to present acceptable documents evidencing employment authorization per the Federal I-9 requirement.
Desired:
- Knowledge of and/or aptitude in AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, and Visual.
- Interest in electrical power systems engineering field.
