Our Protective Design practice helps architects, owners, developers, and public agencies worldwide achieve security objectives while upholding each project’s aesthetic, functional and budgetary goals. Within the Protective Design practice our Electronic Security department comprises electronic engineers who specialize in the design of security systems for buildings to protect against acts of terrorism, espionage, and criminality.
The Role
We have an opportunity for a Graduate Engineer to join our Protective Design Practice where we use our expert knowledge to develop technical and bespoke solutions for our clients. The role would suit someone with an academic background in electronic security or systems engineering, who is interested in security protection and wants to pursue a career within the specialist area of high security system design. Full training in the above specialisms is offered.
Responsibilities
- Undertake designs for electronic security systems.
- Assist senior colleagues in carrying out site condition surveys.
- Undertake analysis of CCTV coverage and document via drawings existing coverage, blind spots and proposed additional camera coverage including positioning of cameras.
- Undertake analysis of existing electronic access control systems identifying weaknesses in the security strategy and proposed additional controls to improve security.
- Interface with clients and other design team members.
- Attend Design Team Meetings to provide update on designs underway and respond to queries from the design team.
- Present proposed solutions to clients explaining proposed system solutions and benefits and respond to any client queries.
- Prepare drawings, technical reports and specifications, and computer models using industry standard software such as AutoCAD or Revit.
- Be able to demonstrate strong analytical skills with intuitive and logical approach to solving engineering problems.
- Be willing to partake in physical security R&D.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
- All candidates must be able to obtain security clearance.
- Have a willingness to travel as work requires.
