Job Description

Are you ready to make a real impact in a hands-on role? Thames Water is looking for a Field Engineer to join our team and be the crucial link between customers, contractors, and our operations. If you thrive in a dynamic, field-based environment and enjoy problem-solving, this is the role for you.What you'll be doing as the Field Engineer:

  • Conducting field surveys for new mains and service connections—getting it right the first time.
  • Ensuring water regulations compliance through on-site inspections.
  • Liaising with customers, contractors, and councils to keep projects running smoothly.
  • Performing site inspections on sewer connections and adoptions, ensuring high standards.
  • Carrying out Health & Safety audits and championing safe practices.
  • This is a field-based role covering London and the Thames Water region, so flexibility and travel are required.

What you should bring to the role:

  • Experience in traffic management, water regulations, main laying, or water networks.
  • A solid understanding of Health & Safety, Streetworks standards, and NRSWA / TMA.
  • Strong communication skills—you’ll be working with a variety of stakeholders.
  • A full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Experience in traffic management, water regulations, main laying, or water networks would be an advantage but not necessary.
  • A plumbing or pipeline construction background would be a bonus.

The role primarily involves travel across South East London, with occasional travel across South London.Hours: 38 hours per week Mon-Fri 7:30-15:36.What’s in it for you?
