Job Description:
We are seeking a talented System Validation Engineer to join our team and contribute to the comprehensive testing of our Automotive product lines.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the system’s integration and qualification tests conform to the ASPICE framework, particularly focusing on SYS.4 (System Integration Test) and SYS.5 (System Qualification Test).
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in system testing and product validation, a solid understanding of automotive communication protocols, and experience with relevant tools and equipment.

The Role:

  1. System Integration Testing: Develop and execute system integration test plans for the Automotive Infotainment Data Recorder System in alignment with ASPICE SYS.4 processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address integration test challenges and ensure seamless interaction between software and hardware components. Investigate and resolve integration issues, working closely with development hardware/software teams.
  2. System Qualification Testing: Design and implement test cases for SYS.5 (System Qualification test) following ASPICE guidelines. Conduct rigorous qualification tests to verify the robustness and reliability of the Infotainment Data Recorder System. Document and report qualification results, providing detailed feedback to the development team.
  3. Test Automation: Develop and maintain automated test scripts, enhancing testing efficiency in line with continuous testing practices. Collaborate with software developers to integrate automated testing capability into the system testing environment.
  4. ASPICE Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to ASPICE processes and guidelines throughout the validation lifecycle. Participate in ASPICE assessments, providing necessary documentation evidence and artifacts to demonstrate compliance.
  5. Defect Management: Identify, track, and manage defects through their lifecycle, collaborating closely with development teams for timely resolution. Provide comprehensive defect reports and contribute to root cause analysis. Support in-vehicle user acceptance testing activities collaborating with other Cosworth Departments and our Customers.
  6. Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  7. Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.

Candidate Profile:
Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  2. Consideration may be given to candidates with significant on-the-job experience.
  3. Proven experience in system/product testing within the automotive industry.
  4. Familiarity with the ASPICE framework, specifically SYS.4 and SYS.5 processes.
  5. Strong programming skills, preferably in scripting languages (Python, CAPL).
  6. Experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
  7. Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).

Desirable:

  1. Familiarity with the automotive industry, particularly Tier 1 Automotive suppliers.
  2. Experience operating with CMMi and Automotive SPICE process framework.
  3. Experience with Automotive diagnostic tools (e.g., Vector CANOE, Intrepid Systems Vehicle Spy).
  4. Detailed knowledge of CAN bus protocol (ISO-11898) and Automotive Unified Diagnostic Services (ISO-14229).
  5. Familiarity with Automotive Ethernet, including diagnostic protocols (DOIP ISO-13400).
  6. Experience with software defect tracking and reporting systems, such as Azure DevOps/JIRA.
  7. Practical experience with hand tools, soldering, and wiring.
  8. ISEB/ISTQB Certificate in Software Testing is a plus.
  9. Knowledge of Automotive Functional Safety standard (ISO-26262).
  10. Possession of a valid UK driver’s license.
