Glamour is looking for an Acting Beauty Editor, 12 month FTC to lead digital beauty coverage by creating authentic, engaging SEO optimised stories our readers will want to devour and share.
Reporting to the Associate Beauty Director, the ideal candidate is creative and skilled at writing and editing a range of content from relatable personal essays and insightful reported features to meaningful service pieces, celebrity roundups and trend spotlights that showcase a unique point of view.
You\’ll have a pulse on the cultural conversations around beauty from new and exciting products and trends to deeper meaningful conversations around beauty and identity. We\’re looking for someone who is passionate about the Glamour brand and has an authentic grasp of our beauty pillars, including diversity and authenticity.
What will you be doing?
- Write and edit daily content for Glamour\’s beauty vertical, including culturally relevant news, trend galleries, product reviews and fresh perspectives on current industry topics.
- Pitch and execute competitive, exciting reported beauty and wellness features and first person reviews our readers can\’t find anywhere else.
- Collaborate with the Associate Beauty Director on the annual Glamour beauty awards from inception to execution.
- Have a firm understanding of the intersection between beauty/wellness and culture.
- Work on beauty coverage during live events on the Glamour calendar, from award shows to fashion week.
- Leverage analytics reporting and social data to develop new editorial ideas that will engage core readers and attract new ones.
- Regularly contribute to social video and TikTok, working on the Trend Report franchise and collaborating with the social team as necessary to maintain a beauty presence on socials.
- Work with the commerce team to create elevated, fun beauty shopping content with an eye to revenue.
- Weigh in on beauty concepts for original shoots.
- Contribute and oversee special issues/projects as needed.
- Represent Glamour at industry events as necessary.
Who you are:
- Extensive experience in beauty editing and writing for a comparable brand.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a proven ability to produce polished copy and consistently meet deadlines.
- Track record of original reporting and writing/editing high-trafficked posts.
- A strong roster of industry contacts in the beauty and wellness industry both brand side and professional experts.
- Seamlessly switch between first-person voice and objective tone.
- Experience using content management systems and social media platforms.
- A collaborative spirit and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Adept at headline writing and packaging.
- Deeply engaged with the broader beauty landscape beyond traditional industry channels, you excel at spotting online trends and leveraging social media to generate fresh content ideas.
