Job Title: Part-Time Materials Scientist with Expertise in Polymer Chemistry
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual with advanced education and training in Materials Science and Polymer Chemistry for a part-time/flex hours position. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and characterizing cutting-edge polymer materials enhanced with metallic additives, using a proprietary loading methodology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Polymer Loading: Perform precise loading of polymers with metallic additives using proprietary methodologies.
- Characterization & Testing: Verify chemical compositions of loaded polymer batches using advanced laboratory instrumentation such as X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) or equivalent analytical tools.
- Sample Preparation: Prepare polymer batches for testing and evaluation by corporate partners.
- Lab Equipment Expertise: Utilize and maintain advanced laboratory equipment, including supercritical CO2 extraction systems, for polymer processing and characterization.
- Safety Protocols: Ensure strict adherence to all laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
- Research Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all experimental procedures, results, and findings.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
- Graduate-level (Master’s or Ph.D.) education in Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of polymer chemistry and materials science fundamentals.
- Experience with XPS and other advanced characterization tools for chemical/physical analysis.
- Familiarity with supercritical CO2 extraction equipment and processes.
- Proficiency in laboratory safety and best practices.
Skills:
- Experience working with polymer-metal additive systems.
- Familiarity with the latest advancements in lab instrumentation and methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research-focused environment.
