Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Composites

Position Summary
Triton Systems is seeking a Composites Engineer with structural, fiber-reinforced polymer composites knowledge and experience in design and manufacturing. Should have a strong background in innovative research and development and a desire to create exciting new products. Triton\’s diverse set of projects will give you experience across the product development cycle and allow you to shine in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Project management and technical leadership
- Design and Analysis of composites structures
- Presentation of results to customers (written and oral)
- Supervision and development of new technologies through research and development
- Business development through customer relationships and proposal writing
- Management of external partners and suppliers
- Recognizing and solving complex problems
- Project level ideation and technical development
Qualifications
- Hands-on experimental and fabrication experience with polymer matrix composites
- Foundational understanding of structural and mechanical design
- Experience with the design of complex composite load bearing structures
- Familiarity with adhesive bonding and joint design for polymer matrix composites and metallic components
- Must have industrial experience in (carbon-fiber/ Vglass-fiber reinforced) polymer composites manufacturing.
- Technical writing and proposal experience a plus
Education/Experience
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. Advanced degree is a plus.
- 7-10+ years of experience working as a design engineering with a focus in composite materials.
- Experience in Finite Element Modeling of composite and/or metallic structures with industry standard codes (Abaqus, Ansys, FEMAP/NASTRAN, etc.)
- Ability to execute engineering and design of structural fiber-reinforced composite materials
- Knowledge of matrix resin and adhesive chemistries a plus
- Experience managing technical teams and directing projects
- Research and proposal writing experience a plus
