Overview
The Testing Center Manager reports to the Associate Dean for Educational Assessment and Evaluation and provides leadership in planning and overseeing operations for the Waitzer Hall Testing Center. This role is responsible for supervising the proctors, scheduling exams, registering examinees, procuring National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) exams, managing supply purchases, and tracking Testing Center-related expenses.
The Testing Center Manager ensures the effectiveness of policies, systems, and procedures to uphold secure, fair, equitable, and efficient testing practices. They analyze and report data to support program improvement and accreditation efforts, collaborate with IT to maintain and enhance testing technology, and coordinate exam accommodations for students with approved exemptions.
Additionally, this role stays current on best practices in exam security, ensuring all exams are administered smoothly, securely, and in compliance with institutional policies, Testing Center guidelines, and testing sponsors such as the NBME. The Testing Center Manager also supports educational scholarship initiatives and provides training to the campus community on Testing Center policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, systems, and procedures for Testing Center operations in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the institution’s mission and vision.
- Monitor and assess Testing Center effectiveness, implementing improvements as needed.
- Oversee exam scheduling and examinee management, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain and manage exam rosters and examinee databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
- Coordinate and implement accommodations for students ensuring compliance with Student Disability Services approved accommodations.
- Assist with budget planning.
- Monitor Testing Center-related expenses, including invoices, purchase orders, NBME credits, and payments.
- Collect, analyze, and report data to support continuous quality improvement, program evaluation, and accreditation requirements.
- Collaborate with the Lead Exam Proctor to hire, train, and ensure adequate staffing for exams and support effective exam administrations.
- Develop and deliver training to faculty, staff, and students on Testing Center policies, operations, and best practices.
- Collaborate with IT to maintain and update testing technology, ensuring seamless operation and technical support.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements related to testing and assessment.
- Serve as a back-up proctor as needed.
- Support educational scholarship initiatives that enhance best practices in testing security and ensure an effective testing environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and institutional needs.
Qualifications
Master\’s degree is highly preferred for this position. Prior experience in a student testing environment is required. Must be proficient with MS Outlook and skilled in the use of Microsoft Office and the Internet.
