The Role:
The People Advisor will work with the People Business Partner to deliver tactical solutions to people needs, implement and advise on people policies, ensuring they are implemented consistently throughout the Company. The People Advisor will support the People Business Partner in the delivery of strategic projects as well as building relationships with key stakeholders and leaders within their designated business area.
Position Accountabilities include:
• Develop meaningful relationship with key people in the designated business areas, working closely with line managers to understand and implement people related policies and procedures.
• Offer advice and guidance on managing people processes such as sickness absence management, disciplinary and grievances, TUPE, redundancy and reorganisation and employee benefits, pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits.
• Support line managers in the application of people policies and procedure within their teams.
• Support the People Business Partner on issues relating to employee relations including engagement with Port Council and staff representatives or local workforce forums where relevant.
• Supporting the People Business Partner and wider People & Community team in ongoing projects.
• Lead small-scale projects as required and as identified by the People Business Partner.
• Support the planning, and sometimes delivering, of training on key people processes and policies.
• Advising and supporting management on the ad hoc people related activities that arise regularly.
• Offer advice on matters relating to employment law and work to ensure that the organisation remains legally compliant.
• Collaborate effectively with the other People Advisors to ensure consistency in approach to people related matters.
Physical Demands:
The role can be office based or hybrid (minimum of 2 days per week office based if hybrid working), with a need to visit operational sites as required for the fulfilment of the role.
Special Requirements:
The role requires travel to operational sites as required; therefore, a full driving licence and own transport is essential.

• Be able to communicate effectively with key stakeholders, ask curious questions and actively listen.
• Ability to communicate people processes effectively whilst working with key stakeholders to deliver effective solutions to people issues.
• Ability to identify and resolve people related conflicts.
• Ability to manage own workload, with a proactive approach and management of multiple requests simultaneously and effectively.
• Exceptional attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
• A minimum of 12 m months experience in a People Advisor/HR Officer role.
