About the Head of Product Design role
We are looking for a hands-on Head of Product Design to manage and mentor the design team, playing a key part in leading and contributing to the UX/UI experience for our platform products. You will be ensuring the design standards are aligned with industry best practices, user journeys and brand guidelines.
The Head of Product Design will define the strategy for our products, establish the principles and guidelines to ensure consistency in design language, style and functionality.
What you will be doing as a Head of Product Design
Customer/Client Centricity
- Ensuring high-quality, user-centred designs are delivered across all touchpoints, from ideation to implementation.
- Partnering with sales and customer success teams to gather feedback and ensure that the product platform remains customer-centric
Data & Reporting
- Championing the voice of the user, leveraging research, data, and insights to inform design decisions and improve user satisfaction. (Indirectly linked to data-driven decision-making in design).
- Measuring and improving design impact, acting as the advocate and spokesperson for the user and design perspective in the product development process.
Innovation & Design
- Defining the design goals and direction for the product or product portfolio by understanding user needs, market opportunities, business objectives, and technical constraints.
- Ensuring the design system is maintained in Figma to enable rapid iteration and consistency across the design platform.
- Implementing and refining design workflows, tools, and standards to enhance team efficiency and consistency.
Planning & Prioritisation
- Driving alignment on product design priorities and delivery timelines with senior stakeholders and executives.
- Overseeing design workflow, assign tasks, review deliverables, and provide feedback and guidance to the team.
Strategic Impact
- Define the design goals and direction for the product portfolio by understanding user needs, market opportunities, business objectives, and technical constraints.
- Lead and mentor the design team, including setting design standards, processes, and tools, and driving alignment with organizational goals.
- Communicate design decisions and goals effectively to the broader organization, ensuring alignment across teams and stakeholders.
What you will bring to the Head of Product Design position
- Experience working in payments/FinTech
- Proven experience of leading and mentoring design teams in a hands-on leadership role
- Expertise in cross-functional collaboration including Product Managers, Engineers, stakeholders and users to align design vision with product roadmap and company strategy
- Strong background in defining design goals and direction for products
- Proficiency in managing design systems in Figma
- Familiar with a wide range of design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite and front-end development concepts
- Proven track record of implementing and refining design work-flows, tools and standards to enhance team efficiency, consistency and performance
