Exhibitions and Displays Officer | Part time | 28 hours | Fixed Term Maternity Cover up to 1 year
Salary: £36,932 – £40,123 FTE 35 hours salary will be pro rata to 0.8 FTE
Hours: 28 hours per week | Monday – Friday
Location: National Museum of Scotland (Edinburgh) / Multi-Site

About the Exhibitions and Displays Officer role:
As Exhibitions and Displays Officer, you will manage the development and delivery of informative, engaging and visitor-focussed special exhibitions, touring exhibitions and displays (permanent galleries). You will work with multi-disciplinary internal project teams as well as external resources to ensure completion of projects to agreed objectives; and you will enjoy working to find solutions and provide expert advice in a highly paced environment.
As an Exhibitions and Displays Officer at National Museums Scotland you will:
* Be responsible for the overall development and delivery of exhibition projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to budget
* Be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary display and gallery maintenance projects across our sites ensuring effective internal communication and a sound understanding of roles and responsibilities.
* Be responsible for touring National Museums Scotland’s exhibitions to national and international venues and managing relationships with host venues.
* Ensure all exhibitions and displays are based on creative interpretive thinking and practices, ensuring audiences engage with the national collections.
* Ensure effective project, financial and contractor management through applying a sound understanding of National Museums Scotland’s project and procurement methodologies.
* Act as an ambassador for National Museums Scotland with a range of internal and external stakeholders and partners.
Skills and experience we’re looking for in our Exhibitions and Displays Officer:
* Demonstrable experience of managing the delivery of exhibitions or displays in a museum, heritage environment or exhibition company.
* An up-to-date knowledge and understanding of exhibitions and displays in the UK and beyond.
* Experience of working in and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
* Good knowledge of project management processes.
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload with minimum supervision.
