We are looking for a passionate and experienced deputy manager to work under the direction of our Nursery Manager (and deputise where necessary) to lead and inspire our expanding team. Ensuring that all rooms provide safe, high quality education and care for young children.

Your role and key responsibilities will include:

  • Working alongside the Nursery Manager to support the day-to-day running of the nursery

  • Promoting and ensuring a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment

  • Supervising and supporting and staff development

  • Assisting with training and appraisals

  • Liaise with parents/carers, other family members and staff to help ensure that the particular needs of children are met and that parental choice is considered in terms of care given

  • To attend monthly staff / planning meetings and training sessions outside working hours

  • Willingness to undertake further training

  • Hold CACHE Level 3, NVQ Level 3, NNEB or equivalent (Level 5 qualification is preferred)

  • Excellent knowledge of child development for children from birth to five years

  • Excellent knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

  • An understanding of play based approaches to children’s learning and development – passionate about children’s development, maintaining an attractive and welcoming learning environment for children

  • Good communication skills both verbal and written

  • Good leadership, communication, organisation and management skills

  • Previous experience as a nursery manager, deputy manager or 3rd in charge

  • Enhanced disclosure check (DBS)

  • Sound knowledge of child protection procedures and protocol

  • A good team player and self-learner, able to build positive relationships with children, staff and parents

Experience:

  • Childcare: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • CACHE Level 3/5, NVQ Level 3/5, NNEB or equivalent? (required)
