There is a temporary top-up for Bands 2 and 3 reflecting the incorporation of the top-up to the living wage of Β£12.60 per hour – Β£24,638 per annum. Job Overview The Deputy Chief Operating Officer is a pivotal senior leadership role at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB). Working with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Executive Committee, and divisional triumvirates, the Deputy COO will drive improvement through open and visible leadership, embedding our ethos of go, look, and learn as part of our Quality Improvement journey. The role involves developing, directing, and leading service improvement, performance strategies, and operational support to enhance patient care. As Deputy COO, you will oversee daily operations, develop strategies to improve efficiency, and deputise for the COO as needed. Interview date: 8th July 2025. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. Main duties of the job Ensure the Health Board meets all performance targets and works with Divisional teams to support standards and corrective actions. Liaise with regulators to provide assurance on performance recovery and transformational plans. Manage operational delivery across services, identify opportunities for value improvement, and support Divisions in achieving performance and financial targets. Lead service improvement projects, engage clinical staff, and participate in performance meetings with the Executive Team. Deputise for the COO as appropriate.
