Syme Drummond is excited to partner with Scottish Friendly to find an experienced Learning & Development Manager on a 9–12 months maternity cover contract.

This is a hands-on role that combines strategic oversight with operational delivery. You will be responsible for leading both the implementation of a new Learning Management System (LMS) and the delivery of training across the business, ensuring all learning initiatives are aligned with business goals and regulatory standards.

This is a dynamic role where you will play a key part in both the strategic and operational aspects of L&D, overseeing everything from LMS implementation to delivering impactful training.

Key duties will include:

  • Leading the launch of the new LMS, ensuring effective adoption and engagement across the business.
  • Designing, delivering, and improving training content to support compliance, operational transformation, and leadership development.
  • Supporting the integration of a new CRM system and ensuring seamless digital learning experiences.
  • Developing and refining leadership development frameworks and ensuring all training documentation aligns with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating and engaging with key stakeholders across the business.

·       Delivering learning through a blended approach to tailor to diverse learning needs.

  • Providing line management support to a small team, ensuring they are mentored and developed.

The ideal applicant will bring a blend of strategic vision and practical experience in learning and development, particularly within regulated industries.

We are looking for:

·       Proven experience with LMS implementation and management, including content creation and user adoption.

·       Strong background in a regulated environment, ideally within financial services, insurance, or another highly regulated field.

·       Hands-on training delivery—you must be comfortable not only designing but also delivering training directly to employees, ensuring the content is engaging and impactful.

·       Demonstrable line management experience, nurturing and developing team members.

·       A collaborative mindset, with the ability to build strong relationships across departments and influence senior leadership on learning and development priorities.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the L&D function within a customer-focused, supportive environment. With a hybrid working model, you'll enjoy great exposure to senior leadership and the chance to make a real impact on key business transformation initiatives, all while working in a collaborative, inclusive culture.

If you are an L&D professional with a passion for driving change and experience in regulated environments, we would love to hear from you.
