Job Description

Taylor Root is pleased to be working with FTSE Listed FMCG and Healthcare business in the healthcare space to help them recruit an Associate General Counsel – Privacy.

The organization has annual revenues in excess of 10 billion GBP, operations in over 50 countries and 50,000 staff globally.

This is a senior-level role for a data privacy and cyber-security lawyer who will act as the lead contact to provide advice on all aspects of European data protection. In addition, the role will assist with a broad range of technology, digital and eCommerce matters. This role will report to the VP, Privacy, Cyber and Digital Legal, and will partner with a global compliance and privacy governance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the European businesses to ensure compliance with all applicable Data Privacy laws
  • Become the day to day primary point of contact for internal and external GDPR enquiries
  • Advise on legal and other regulatory, compliance and corporate governance related matters across Europe
  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of contracts
  • Prepare training material and presentations, and provide legal training to staff as required
  • Lead various global privacy projects to bring into compliance with new privacy laws and regulation different parts of the business, including games and marketing
  • Prepare, maintain and update privacy documentation, including data protection agreements, standard contractual clauses, and internal policies
  • Apply a risk-based approach to data protection reviews and guidance

About you

· At least 12 years post qualification experience

· UK (or comparable jurisdiction) qualified lawyer

· Accredited Data Privacy Professional (highly desirable)

· A good understanding of Data Privacy law is essential. Broader knowledge of regulatory law is also beneficial.

· Experience at top law firm and/or previous inhouse experience an advantage.

· A relationship builder, strong communication skills both written and spoken with the ability to communicate effectively and translate complex legal topics across a diverse set of businesses and with staff at all levels, including senior management

· Able to operate proactively and independently

· Extremely professional: calm under pressure, clear thinking, well organized, proactive and grasps concepts quickly.

· Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple priorities with limited instruction
