Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineering intern will learn to implement manufacturing processes for new and existing product designs and provide production floor support. The intern will work in a team environment with the support of full-time Manufacturing Engineers. Emphasis will be placed on CNC machining and assembly of precision firearm components utilizing clearly defined technical drawings and interchangeable parts.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Learn to plan and design manufacturing processes.
- Learn to implement manufacturing processes for new and existing firearm product designs while providing budgetary estimates for equipment, tools, gages, and production rates.
- Use project management techniques to procure tooling and equipment for new products to meet launch timelines and cost targets.
- Learn to evaluate and improve product designs for manufacturability while applying GD&T and dimensional stack-ups.
- Provide production floor support to maintain output and quality for technical systems and manufacturing processes including:
- High volume CNC machining
- Machine and Tool Design
- Assembly
- Metal finishing
- Automation
Education/Experience & Skills:
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Proficiency with SOLIDWORKS or similar CAD system.
- Good working knowledge of materials and heat-treating processes.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Must be organized, able to work in a team, plan, and execute multiple projects.
- Written and verbal communication of complicated subjects is required.
- Must be able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Must have strong analytical skills, basic manufacturing process knowledge, and basic project management skills.
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, twist, lift, and move files.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
