Detailed job description and main responsibilities

What Awaits You:

  1. Cutting-Edge Research: You will be pivotal in the delivery of technology and operational projects across genomics, consisting of a complex set of sub-projects, supported by experienced subject matter experts.
  2. Innovative Service Development: You will play an integral role in the Genomics strategic programme delivery roadmap and prioritisation of innovation.
  3. Collaboration: You’ll collaborate closely with clinicians, researchers, laboratory staff and other project managers, ensuring your work directly impacts the treatment and care of patients.
  4. Leadership and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor junior staff, guaranteeing the highest quality of service while maintaining professional standards.
  5. Diverse Responsibilities: Your role will support activities such as quality management, compliance with laboratory accreditation standards, training, and contributing to the department’s translational research program.

  1. Responsible for the effective delivery of key strategic Clinical Genomic projects.
  2. Ensure delivery of key elements against agreed milestones, budget and timelines with demonstration of success, outcomes measure and key performance indicators.
  3. Responsible for maintaining the project planning, including project reporting, monthly highlight reports, updating the risk logs, producing exception reports and ensuring that all work remains on target to deliver agreed objectives.
  4. Ability to work as part of a larger team and when required independently.
  5. Supports and enforces the department’s strategic vision and delivers projects to support the RM Clinical Genomics Roadmap.
  6. Work with Project Team and end users to design changes in working practices which comply with the functionality of the system being implemented and to offer solutions to risks associated with processes.
  7. Work with leadership to ensure that business needs and prioritisation is met.
  8. Work with external (and internal) suppliers to ensure effective project delivery within time, budget and agreed quality standards.

Education

Essential criteria

  1. Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  2. Prince 2 Practitioner level or equivalent.

Desirable criteria

  1. MSP qualified.
  2. BSc in scientific discipline.

  2. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) including presentation skills.

Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.

The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the utmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
