Senior Control Systems Engineer – Substation

They specialize in power transmission and distribution, providing innovative solutions to enhance and sustain the nation’s electrical infrastructure. With an expanding portfolio of projects and recent framework wins, they are growing their team and looking for a Senior Control Systems Engineer – Substation to join their ranks.
This is a senior role where you will be responsible to technically lead the delivery of innovative control systems solutions for transmission and distribution projects across the UK. You will support TSO and industry clients using the latest technology and equipment. You will collaborate with project teams, support pre-sales activities, and provide technical guidance to both clients and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, configuration, and validation of SCADA and control systems for high voltage substation projects.
- Ensure all work adheres to client-specific technical requirements and relevant industry standards.
- Create, assess, and maintain technical documentation including I/O schedules, functional design specifications, and design intent documents.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop engineering control solutions and conduct system testing.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to ensure system quality.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers while fostering team development.
- Ensure projects comply with current industry policies and safety standards, driving quality assurance.
- Contribute to tendering processes by offering valuable technical insights and support.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree or HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems.
- Strong experience working with SCADA and control systems in the electricity transmission and distribution sector.
- Proficient in SCADA technologies, including SICAM PAS, SICAM SCC / WinCC, SIPROTEC 4/5.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as IEC61850.
- In-depth understanding of Cyber Security standards.
- Experience with network configuration and testing, and the use of software tools for analysis and troubleshooting.
